Our Convention speakers focused on the theme, “Rise Up!” and challenged the attendees with powerful ministry. You can still view their messages on our Facebook pages.
At least 29 members from our sister organizations in several Central American nations (left) made the FGEA National Convention 2019 our most “international” convention ever.
Look below at the faces and friends who made
the NEWS all about what God is doing within FGEA’s various ministry outreaches.
Gene Beaver was honored for over 50 years of Missions ministry for FGEA. But,
the award had to be given to Beaver in the VA Hospital at Wichita, KS. Because Beaver had been
hospitalized after arriving in Wichita for the convention, Pearcy awarded the
honor bedside and thanked Beaver for his faithful ministry. Please keep Beaver
in your prayers as he is now recovering at home from a serious infection
President Galen Pearcy was re-elected by unanimous consent of the voting Members at the Annual Business Meeting to serve a second full term for FGEA. “Thank you for the confidence you have shown by re-electing me for another four-year term as president of the FGEA Ministry Network. I consider it a great privilege to serve with this amazing team of godly men and woman.” Pearcy was on the ballot unopposed because the Nominating Committee submitted only his name for consideration.
Nominating Committee Chair Ron Martin explained that in their procedural process each committee member created a list of the top candidates that they felt were most qualified. Five names in common appeared on all their lists. They proceeded to contact those five candidates who each, in turn, declined to be nominated. Martin said that rather than proceed to find other candidates, they agreed to submit Pearcy as the only nominee (based on their understanding of the Bylaws).
In a separate session, the President’s salary was restored to “full” measure after the body voted to accept the recommendation of the Officers’ Compensation Review Committee. In 2013, the President’s salary was reduced to $10,000 as a cost-cutting measure because FGEA had operated at a deficit for several of the previous years. Modest increases have been implemented in recent years; but after a time of fervent prayer, the Members voted to fully restore the salary to the 2013 levels.
On a related note, Secretary/Treasurer Jeff Odom reported
that FGEA finished 2018 “in the black.” It was noted that if every Member
continues to do their part, then FGEA will continue to grow.
A “Higher Education” luncheon gathered the leaders from several of FGEA’s college-level educational programs to discuss the furtherance of these ministries. Each leader shared briefly about the focus of their school and the desire to work more cooperatively toward educating our Members and Churches.
The Victory College Band (led by an FGEA-favorite, Samuel Muhumuza) led worship Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning and Wednesday Evening. The “short” Wednesday morning devotional and communion time stretched into a powerful prophetic time of worship where God spoke clearly to many attendees.
All the “under 30” FGEA Members had an after-service “convo” with Pres. Pearcy on Tuesday night that lasted early into the next morning! The wide-ranging discussion opened additional dialogue about the future of FGEA.
A committee was chosen (Chair Joey Dolpies, James Morgan, Tabitha Pearcy, Trent Trembly, and Mariah Logan) to continue the discussion of ways that FGEA can encourage more young Members.
The Hispanic Members had an afternoon of worship and ministry where several ministers shared what God is doing in their nations, as well as announcing ongoing plans to develop FGEA’s Hispanic ministry more fully.
Many praises/thanks to host Pastors Lonny and Chris Satterfield and their wonderful congregation for the beautiful job of welcoming us all to Calvary’s Rock Church in Wichita, KS. They served several great meals and their recently remodeled facilities looked fantastic.
